on365 announces complete Data Centre and HPC solutions from sub-station right through to application, through partnership with SGI

Loughborough, 5th October 2009 – on365, a specialist in the planning, installing, management and optimisation of infrastructure and utility services, has announced a partnership with SGI, a global leader in large-scale clustered computing, high-performance storage, HPC and data centre enablement and services. The agreement will provide a range of on365's physical IT infrastructure services such as power, cooling and flooded data cabling within specialised HPC data centres within EMEA.

The agreement, which was completed following a comprehensive selection process, means that on365 will provide data centre infrastructure and utilities consultancy, design, installation, testing and support for SGI? server, data centre and High Performance Computing (HPC) products. These sites are facing very fast-changing computing, business, carbon reduction and compliance requirements.

The deal strengthens both parties' ability to deliver end-to-end services that optimise the flexibility and operational performance of enterprise, mid-range and SMB's data centre physical infrastructures while improving their manageability and energy efficiency. In particular, it strengthens on365's expertise in the high performance computing, simulation, R&D and scientific environment.

The partnership builds on on365's Elite partner status for the data centre from APC by Schneider. As one of the largest APC partners in EMEA, on365 have consistently delivered high level data centres across the region and are the vendor of choice for many blue chip companies. on365 will be able to extend its presence in the defence, education and research, biotechnology, oil and gas, automotive, digital and post production markets.

SGI Trusted Advisor status is also further extended to include the very foundation of the data centre. Under the agreement, it is now qualified to carry out certified installation of all supporting infrastructure products and services. These include power and cooling audits, CFD assessments (Computational Fluid Dymanics) and virtual tours of proposed data centres.

on365's marketing director Chris Smith said: "Our 25-year track record in delivering the highest levels of physical infrastructure to clients with needs ranging from small departmental servers to large IT estates was a major factor in securing this partnership."

He added:"The agreement with SGI is the latest step in our capacity to provide services for large organisations' HPC, simulation and high availability data centres. It will also help unleash the potential of existing data centres through a combination of expert consultancy, engineering expertise and monitoring and compliance services that the largest SIs and point solution providers are not geared up to provide.

Peter Luff, director of professional services, EMEA, at SGI, said: We're delighted to have on365 on board. The partnership will help customers to 'raise the bar' on their high performance computing, simulation, R&D and processing, while ensuring that they keep the lid on today's cost control and energy efficiency challenges. on365's technical expertise and track record complements the unique performance storage capabilities of our technology portfolio. This partnership enables both parties to deliver end-to-end optimisation of their data centres' infrastructures across our target markets."
